Perhaps if these local residents who live in the “City of Angles” understood the basic concept of “profit” and “loss” or perhaps understood economics, rather than relay on political hacks, professional agitators and self-serving unions, for an honest discourse on their working conditions, Wal-Mart would still be open and employing people.
Rather then closing its doors within this impoverished neighborhood in Chinatown. The demise of this particular store was in part due to an unrealistic understanding my career politicians, and activists on how businesses actually function, and at the heart of the issue was the mandated new $15-dollar minimum wage and the continued harassment by the unions.
To be fair Wal-Mart is scheduled to close 154 stores citing; “a number of factors, including financial performance as well as strategic alignment with long-term plans.”
However a big part of the equation in closing this particular store involved the continued disruption and in particular a demonstration in November 2014, when the union-funded “Movement Generation’s Justice and Ecology Project, thousands of protestors were bused in to protest against Wal-Mart and destroyed the downtown area, even though the company only had the one store in Chinatown.
Last summer’s union-led “Fight For 15” minimum wage movement in Los Angeles, proclaiming, “Wal-Mart Wages War on Workers” and “Wal-Mart Wages War on Planet Earth.”
What is seldom mentioned by the liberal establishment is that wage increase from $7.25 to $10 an hour would raise wages for 16 to 24 million people, but would also kill 500,000 existing jobs.
